Parallel to European Jazz Orchestra Swinging Europe is running PLAY!GROUND. The purpose is to give young devoted music school talents and MGK students the opportunity to follow and participate while the professional musicians in the EJO rehearse. They also get the opportunity to experience being a professional ensemble with their own program and tour.

Ten talents are handpicked from all over the country and from 2011 two of them from abroad. The young musicians are chosen on the basis of their playing and a personal contact. The condition for participation is their experience with performing in bands, their skills to play and improvise and to speak English.

In addition to meeting their professional co-musicians in the EJO, they will buckle down to rehearsing under the direction of their own composer/conductor, the well-known bass player Bo Stief. Bo Stief will, together with the band, build up a repertoire that will prepare them for their debut concert at Fermaten – Herning.

Through these experiencesPLAY!GROUND get information about what is happening at the musical scene. PLAY!GROUND will also have an insight into the working conditions of professional musicians.

New project for PLAY!GROUND 2011 is Hit, PLAY and Run. One day, one Mission. To reach most people during the day by small concerts. This project will be further developed during the years to come.
